The Office of Transition Programs & Initiatives (TPI) provides multiple leadership and mentoring opportunities for students to get involved in our office and with our programs. Our programs aim to support first-year students and their families during their transition into college and beyond. Our positions range from short-term and specific program/event involvement to year-round positions.  See below for details on our open 2024-2025 student leadership positions.

 

UARK Cardinal Nights Student Coordinator

UARK Cardinal Nights Student Coordinators serve as a programming board for UARK Cardinal Nights, a late-night series funded by students’ fees.  Cardinal Nights Coordinators are responsible for the development, and implementation of all UARK Cardinal Nights events including the annual Back to School Back, Casino Night and much more! The Cardinal Nights  team hosts 4-5 events per semester that is open to the entire student body. The available positions include two (2) event coordinators, one (1) volunteer and marketing coordinator and one (1) executive director. CLICK BELOW TO APPLY!

Position Length: 2024-2025

Position Type: Hourly (General Coordinator: $11.50 hourly wage; up to $1,500 per semester. Executive Director: $13.00 hourly wage; up to $2,000 per semester.)

Parent & Family Ambassadors

Parent & Family Ambassadors serve as student members of the Transition Programs & Initiatives staff and work collaboratively to assist parents and family members in their student's successful transition to the University of Arkansas. Parent &  Family Ambassadors assist in the planning and implementation of Parent & Family Programs events, such as Family Weekend and New Student Orientation, and supervise staffing needs outlined by Transition Programs & Initiatives.

Position Length: 2024-2025 

Position Time Commitment: Approx. 80 hours over 9 months (March - December)

Position Type: Hourly ($11.50 per hour - see description for details)

A-Week Leader

The A-Week Leader position involves assisting new college students during their transition to university life by facilitating activities, attending programs, and providing support to ensure a smooth transition during A-Week, Monday August 12-18.  Key responsibilities include participating in daily programs, leading small group discussions, promoting social bonding, fostering leadership skills, and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to support TPI's objectives effectively.

 

A-Week Team Lead

This leadership role offers valuable experience for returning A-Week Leaders.

A-Week Team Leads will guide new students during A-Week, mentor A-Week Leaders, plan events, attend virtual summer meetings, assist in training A-Week Leaders and more.

Position Length: August 11-18, 2024
